I can’t think of many dinners that are as easy to make as this one! Because it needs only three ingredients and very little prep work, this is one of my favorite “fancy” meals for days when I’m dreaming of having my very own personal chef. Gerard Butler (shirtless, of course) feeding me bonbons while I wait for dinner would be cool, too. If you like Caesar salad I guarantee you’ll love Caesar Pork Steaks!
If it weren’t for those pesky side dishes I could slap dinner on the table in about 12 minutes with this recipe! I’m telling you it’s darned near as simple as going to a fast food joint but it takes less time because there’s no driving involved!
I let the pork steaks come to room temperature (about 30 – 40 minutes). Then I pat them dry with a paper towel.
Before I even coat the steaks I heat up a large nonstick skillet over medium heat. The skillet needs to be really hot before I add the steaks so I let it heat up for 4 or 5 minutes.
While the skillet is getting hot I pour 1/2 cup of Newman’s Own Creamy Caesar dressing into a dish. I brush the steaks with the dressing on the side that’s up.
Next I press about 1/4 cup of Parmesan cheese into the dressing on the pork steaks. I want the cheese to stick on the steaks.
Then I place the steaks, dressing & cheese side down, in the hot skillet. I brush the bare sides of both steaks with the dressing and pat cheese on them.
It takes about 4 – 6 minutes per side to cook the pork to 145 degrees. Don’t rush it. Even if you’re really hungry. Trust me on this. And if a little cheese comes off when you flip the pork you can just scrape it off the pan and plop it on the pork before you serve it. Use a spatula to turn the pork because if you try to use a fork more cheese may stick to the pan than if you use a spatula.
When the pork is golden brown and cooked through let it rest for a couple of minutes and serve! Simple, right? I know!
To carry the “theme,” I usually serve Parmesan & Herb potatoes with the Caesar Pork Steaks. Vegetables are a must and a salad (though I don’t make Caesar salad with this meal because limits, people!) complete this easy and delicious dinner.
I admit I got a little too hungry and tried to rush cooking the pork through. I had to put one of the pork steaks back in the pan for a few minutes. Medium rare pork is okay but rare pork is a definite no-no.
Nevertheless, Caesar Pork Steaks are really delicious. Mr. Comfortable ate his entire huge pork steak and everything else!
