School is almost over for the year and summer vacations and activities are starting. Kids free to play and explore. But kids can get bored easily. My grand kids come for a week each summer and to make sure we have fun things to do I’ve found these great summer projects for kids!
Great Summer Projects for Kids can also make great gifts for parents & grandparents!
Last year my friend, Peg and I got most of our grand kids together to do Shaving Cream Painting and Colored Rice Art. Even my 15 year old granddaughter had fun expressing her artistic side! And our youngest grandson really got into the shaving cream painting!
This year I thought it would be fun for the kids to make Plastic Bottle Wind Spirals. They can make a couple to take home and ones to leave here to dress up Bam’s flower beds!
Since we did the Colored Rice Art using school glue I thought they might enjoy Glue Painting. This is another great summer project for kids that can be given to grandparents and parents.
And just in case there’s a rainy day and the kids are stuck inside I found this wonderful idea for Rain Art. In fact, if it doesn’t rain I may turn on the sprinkler to do this art project!
While the kids are here I take a lot of pictures and these Magnetic Bean Frames will be a great gift for their mom and dad when they go home. The kids can make the frames and we’ll add pictures from their visit.
These great summer projects for kids will make their playtime even more fun!
This is a simple, inexpensive craft that the kids can make and play with inside or out! Rainbow Ribbon Dancers should be fun for both the girls and the boys!
Although Dinosaur Ice Eggs may seem more like a boy project I know my 8 year old granddaughters will have fun, too. And if you don’t think your child would like dinosaurs just substitute any small toy inside! You can also make an archeology project by freezing dinosaurs in a large, plastic bin. Give the kids some warm water and toy hammers and let them be Indiana Jones!
Using things I already have lying around the house we can make Rainbow Bubble Snakes! I have the feeling this one is going to keep them busy for a while!
I’d never heard of making oobleck before let alone Dancing oobleck! But this sounds like too much fun to pass up! Not only is oobleck fun to get your hands (or feet) into but when you add color and make it dance it’s magic!
Also try these with oobleck!
The kids will have fun with these great summer projects for kids but they’re also going to be a lot of fun for the grownups!
