100 + Followers

followed-blog-100-2x

I know that for many bloggers passing 100 followers is something that came within days of starting their blogs. But for me it’s a big accomplishment. I want to thank each and every one of you who made the choice to follow The Comfortable Coop. I hope you find things that are useful, amusing, or thought-provoking here. And please feel free to make suggestions to help me make The Comfortable Coop more useful!

The Versatile Blogger Award

Thank you so much to Hannah Grace of Hannah Reads for this nomination. Versatility is something I strive for and this recognition from Hannah means a lot.

I realize a lot of bloggers think these kinds of nominations are frivolous but I appreciate the thought behind the nominations. These awards are a way to show our fellow bloggers that we do read their work. They show that we appreciate the time it takes to develop or adapt a recipe or the courage it takes to expose inner feelings. They show that we are interested in what they write. While not every post may touch every reader in the same way, these awards are just a way to say, “I notice your work and I care.”

The Rules :

  • Show the award on your blog
  • Thank the person that has nominated you
  • Share 7 different facts about yourself
  • Nominate 15 blogs of your choice
  • Link your nominees and let them know about the nomination

7 facts about me:

  1. I am nearly all Irish although there was a very long time, due to bad handwriting on a very old census, that I thought I was Jewish.
  2. I have only spent a few months of my entire life without a pet of some kind.
  3. I use my loud voice and humor as a way to hide how basically insecure I am.
  4. If I won a huge lottery I would build a “Corleone Compound” for my family because I can think of nothing better than having my family as my neighbors.
  5. I hate shopping for clothing. I’d rather wear something until it’s nearly in shreds than to have to shop.
  6. My favorite color is blue. No. Purple. No. Green. I don’t really have a favorite color.
  7. I just started watching “Lost” long after the rest of the world. Yay, Netflix!

Each of the blogs I’m nominating are some of the ones I’ve really come to enjoy. I know that some of you will find this nomination a bit annoying but you don’t have to go through the steps. Just know it’s my way of saying thank you for the writing you do.

I know I’m short of the 15 nominations but I think I smell smoke. Seriously.

Liebster Award

I am honored to have been nominated for the Liebster Award by
Il bruciacchio

a delightful blog with wonderful recipes!

I began this blog as a way to share what I’ve learned over decades of caring for my family and home. It was my hope that my experience could help other homemakers with creating a warm, inviting, comfortable “coop” for their broods. I write about all the things I do to make my home cozy and a lot of the things that just don’t go as planned.

Although I have not been blogging for very long my advice to my fellow bloggers is to simply enjoy writing your posts. If you’re having fun with your blog people will have fun along with you!

I am nominating the following blogs because I truly enjoy each of them. I only wish I could nominate all of the blogs I love reading!

The Frugal Farm Wife

My Frugal Farmstead

Anna’s Gardening

Make it Ultra Psychology

Edge of Humanity Magazine

Should my nominees wish to accept the nomination, here are the rules.

The rules

1. Write a post to show your award
2. Acknowledge the blogger who nominated you
3. Give a brief story of why you started blogging
4. Give advice to your fellow bloggers
5. Nominate a few bloggers for the award
6. Leave a comment to let the nominated bloggers know about the award.

If for some reason you do not want to accept the award, it’s completely your decision and I will respect that.
