Beef Stew

Our weird winter weather continued last week with temperatures above normal. Then came the power outage and by Saturday morning the lows were ridiculously low. I’d refused to come out from beneath the blankets while we had no electricity and, therefore, no heat but once the power returned I was really craving a good homemade meal. And, since it was seasonally cold (freezing) it was the perfect night for beef stew!

The last couple of weeks have been really rough on my physically. I think the weather played a large part since it was in the 60’s one day then the 30’s the next and continued to roller-coaster that way. Kicked Up Chicken Fried Steak

From the time I was a little girl I’ve had a love affair with chicken fried steak. It’s definitely one of my top comfort foods! I love that I can make it as simple or as complex as I like and still have the same “Oh this is yummy” feeling about it. Steak Sandwiches with Red Onion Jam

Have you ever tried two recipes and loved them both? That’s what happened when I saw a recipe for a steak marinade on All Recipes and thought of a recipe I’ve used for years from Brian Boitano when he was on Food Network. I had a 1 pound rib eye steak, some mini French bread buns, and a hankering for something really savory yet with a touch of sweetness. So I made Steak Sandwiches with Red Onion Jam!

Mother Dracula’s Transylvanian Goulash
